Superior Corrosion Resistance

Chemical Composition
The alloy typically contains 16-18% chromium, 10-14% nickel, and the critical 2-3% molybdenum content. This balanced composition provides both oxidation resistance and improved performance against reducing acids.
High Temperature Performance
316 maintains excellent mechanical properties at elevated temperatures, with good creep resistance up to approximately 870°C. It performs well in continuous service up to 925°C and offers better high-temperature strength than many austenitic alternatives.
